League Rules

DSTHL Game Rules, Policies, and Procedures

Pursuant to the new League structure, the League Board will look to the Hockey Operations Board, from time to time, for feedback and recommendations. Therefore, based upon recent discussions by the Hockey Operations Board, the League has adopted the following:

  • The following non-checking teams - DSE 03, DSE Girls 16U, DSE Girls 19U - have not been approved to participate in the League in checking divisions with non-checking games.  Member Organization teams are welcomed and encouraged to arrange scrimmages with these non-checking teams at any point during the season.
  • DSE Girls 14U Tier I and Tier II teams will be permitted to participate at the PeeWee level of the leveling tournament; if either team is deemed competitive in any PeeWee division, such team will be placed there and permitted to participate in regular season League games.
  • DSE 14U Tier I (01) and DSE 15U (00) teams will both participate at the 16AA level of the leveling tournament; if either team is deemed competitive in the 16U AA division, such team will be placed there and permitted to participate in regular season League games.
  • The only DSE team eligible for 2015-16 League playoffs is DSE 06.
  • Midget Minor players ('99 and '00 birth years) will not be eligible to participate at the Midget Major level.
  • There shall be no change to the rules regarding play ups.
  • No player may move to a competing Member Organization “AA” team subsequent to the leveling tournament and after being released from a Member Organization "AA" team that failed to qualify for "AA" at the leveling tournament.
  • No player may move to a competing Member Organization “A1” team subsequent to the leveling tournament and after being released from a Member Organization "A1" team that failed to qualify for "A1" at the leveling tournament.
  • Roster changes within a Member Organization between teams that leveled into the same division will not be permitted.
  • The League will look to coordinate with TAHA in efforts to establish a blackout date for the TAHA State play downs.
  • Discussions regarding leveling and playoff formats are still ongoing.
